Our Mission

Thai Gallo has been at Brown Street since conversion from Board and Care to Permanent Supportive Housing residence.
“All of the previous residents were allowed to stay. Some have lived here over 30 years! 24-hour support staff help residents know when they need to do things like contact their doctor for help with medications.”
Community Housing Sonoma County develops permanent supportive housing for people living with disabilities in Sonoma County and helps to increase the capacity of service providers to own and operate the housing it develops.

What we do
Since our incorporation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in June of 1994 Community Housing Sonoma County has been a leader in the development of service enriched housing communities.

People living with mental illness, serious medical conditions, developmental disabilities or chronic substance abuse need permanent supportive housing so that they will no longer be shuffled among shelters, hospital emergency rooms, the street, jails, psychiatric hospitals, and detox facilities.

Hunter Cornell has lived at Larkfield Oaks for two years. He receives support from Buckelew Programs and Project Hope.
“I like it very much. I have a regular apartment, with great neighbors and friends living here. This is a good location, close to everything in the city.”

As an organization, we have cultivated our expertise in this specialized housing development niche, and have shared our knowledge and resources with practitioners throughout the area. We have built a reputation for masterful collaboration with service providers, non-profit and for-profit housing developers, jurisdictions, and residents, and are known throughout the region as a leader in developing forward thinking projects and communities.
